Job Title: Contract Commercial Manager - Rail \nLocation: North West England (Hybrid working available) \nContract Type: Contract (Inside IR35) \nDuration: 6-12 months (with potential for extension) \nDay Rate: Competitive, based on experience \n \nAbout the Role: \nWe are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join our client's rail project team on a contract basis. The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing the commercial and contractual aspects of major rail infrastructure projects across the North West region. This position offers the opportunity to work on high-profile projects with a leading client in the rail sector.
\n \nKey Responsibilities: \nManage the commercial delivery of rail infrastructure contracts from pre-contract through to final account. \n \nLead on procurement, contract administration, cost control, and forecasting. \n \nEnsure compliance with NEC contracts (particularly NEC3 and NEC4).
\n \nPrepare and review valuations, variations, and contractual claims. \n \nWork closely with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure financial and contractual risks are managed effectively. \n \nProduce accurate commercial reports and dashboards for senior management.
\n \nSupport tendering activities, supplier negotiations, and value engineering exercises. \n \nRequirements: \nProven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor within the UK rail sector. \n \nStrong understanding of rail infrastructure projects and the associated commercial risks.
\n \nIn-depth knowledge of NEC contracts (essential). \n \nDemonstrable experience of working on high-value infrastructure projects, ideally within the North West. \n \nStrong negotiation, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.
\n \nDegree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or similar (preferred). \n \nRICS or equivalent professional membership (desirable but not essential)
