PSI supply specialist equipment designed and manufactured in-house for the advanced materials industry, our technology is sold throughout the world and offers customers a research or production scale machine to process feedstock material into a refined, alloyed, highly valuable metal powder product.
The Control Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, development and implementation of the PSI Atomiser Systems. The Control engineer is the owner of the system logic and is responsible for the generation of the Atomiser control strategy. The tasks include designing control algorithms that meet the logic chart requirements using Siemens Controls STEP 7, creating I/O charts in relation to the PandID, troubleshooting system issues during the initial installation and commissioning at PSI and at customer site, conducting all the required system safety tests, ensuring continuous system operation, and maintenance at customer site as and when required. The Control Systems Engineer is also responsible for the system and component wiring for all the low & high voltage circuits in the Atomiser control panels.
Skills:
* Proficiency in electrical system and control panel design.
* Several years of experience in PLC programming and troubleshooting on integrated systems.
* Ability to generate electrical schematics and technical drawings based on system specifications.
* Experience in commissioning and maintaining control systems.
* Experience of working in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
* Working knowledge and application of the health and safety regulations in electrical installations.
* Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Can-do attitude and willing to offer support to cross-functional teams as required.
* Ability to work independently and manage projects efficiently.

Qualifications & Education:
* Possession of an accredited university degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or BTEC/SQA award, or completion of an apprenticeship leading to an NVQ/SVQ at Level 4 for Incorporated Engineers
* Attainment of membership in a chartered engineering institution is desirable.
The role is based at PSI’s Hailsham site but may involve occasional UK travel and short overseas visits in support of our worldwide customer base. Due to the nature of the work this role cannot be fulfilled by working on a remote basis.
Essentials:
Full UK Driving Licence and ability to travel globally as required
Working Hours:
37.5 hour working week
Mon – Fri 8.30am – 5pm with a 60-minute break
Holiday entitlement:
25 days (Plus, Bank holidays)
