Leicestershire County Council – Social Worker (Full‑time) – Coalville Family Hub, High Street, Coalville LE67 3EA.
Salary: £43,222 – £45,982 (incl. market premia £3,283, pro‑rata for part‑time). Working hours: 37 hours per week. Contract: Permanent. Closing date: 22nd June 2026.
About The Role
Family Help delivers intensive and timely family support for families on the continuum from targeted early help to Child in Need. The role uses strengths‑based, trauma‑informed approaches to build strong and consistent professional relationships, respond quickly, and help families achieve positive change. The service integrates Social Workers and Keyworkers (AQWs) to engage families, unlock community networks, and support children to remain safely at home wherever possible.
Responsibilities
* Provide intensive and focused support to families in their homes, building effective relationships and using vision‑based interventions.
* Conduct child and family assessments, conference reports, risk assessments, and private law reports for court, applying high‑standard assessment techniques.
* Participate in duty rosters, attend court hearings, and complete Section 47 enquiries, prioritising tasks to meet deadlines.
* Use performance indicators to monitor and improve service delivery, analyse information for sound decisions, and report regularly to the Team Manager.
* Support colleagues through reflective supervision, training, and career development opportunities.
Qualifications
* Degree in Social Work approved by Social Work England (SWE) or equivalent qualification, registered with SWE.
* Post‑qualification experience working with children, families, and safeguarding, and knowledge of childcare legislation, Local Safeguarding Children Partnership procedures, and child protection.
* Understanding of multiculturalism and ability to apply principles across diverse cultural, racial, linguistic, and religious backgrounds.
* Proficiency in the Signs of Safety methodology and experience delivering creative, innovative, and relationship‑based social work.
* Experience managing competing demands, completing court‑related duties, and maintaining a performance‑driven approach.
* Strong analytical skills to reach sound decisions under pressure and take responsibility for outcomes.
* Full, valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
* Enhanced with barred list DBS check required.
