Year 1 Teaching Assistant – LA5

Teaching Personnel are working with a warm and welcoming primary school in the LA5 area who are looking to appoint a Year 1 Teaching Assistant. The school are seeking someone who is naturally calm, nurturing and patient, as the class includes children who benefit from additional support and a reassuring presence.
About the Role
In this Year 1 classroom, your role will include:
* Providing supportive, gentle guidance to pupils who may need extra encouragement
* Assisting with phonics, reading, writing and early numeracy
* Offering 1:1 or small‑group support as directed by the class teacher
* Helping children develop confidence, emotional regulation and independence
* Creating a warm, safe and positive learning environment
* Working closely with the class teacher and SENCo to follow support strategies
Who We’re Looking For
We’d love to hear from you if you are:
* Calm, nurturing and patient, especially with children who need reassurance
* Confident supporting young learners aged 5–6
* Experienced in SEN, education or childcare (desirable but not essential)
* Able to build trusting relationships with children
* A positive, proactive team player

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
