WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Manager, Health Safety & Environment is responsible for providing HSE support to various STERIS EMEA business units within STERIS AST, and the HSE regional teams, regarding site risk assessments, statutory compliance, and the STERIS global VPP Star program. You will work closely with local/divisional management and operational teams to champion, communicate, and ensure the delivery of the HSE strategy, aiming to maintain a safe business environment against health, safety, and environmental risks.
Duties
1. Provide proactive HSE advice, coaching, and support to businesses and teams.
2. Manage HSE systems such as Navigator and Cority effectively at divisional and operational levels.
3. Organize and support HSE communication meetings to ensure stakeholder engagement.
4. Assist in developing and reviewing risk assessments and report on risks and non-compliance issues.
5. Administer and maintain HSE policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines.
6. Develop and deliver HSE training and engagement initiatives to improve safety awareness and performance.
7. Monitor training compliance and use feedback for improvements.
8. Serve as a subject matter expert in workplace safety and behavior-based observation processes.
9. Ensure incidents, accidents, and near misses are reported, investigated, and managed appropriately.
10. Distribute safety alerts and report on safety performance metrics.
11. Stay informed about HSE legislation and emerging risks, recommending strategic responses.
12. Support environmental compliance through a Legal Register and facilitate translation of HSE materials into local languages.
13. Provide support to operations in Czech Republic, Germany, and Slovenia as needed.
Required Experience
* Experience with HSE management systems and compliance audits.
* Experience implementing HSE programs and managing multi-site operations.
* Knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
* Ability to build relationships and lead indirectly.
