About the role We’re looking for a purpose-driven, passionate Venture Associate Executive to join the Innovation & Growth Team, to help start-ups, SMEs and corporations develop solutions in response to resource and sustainability challenges. The role is an integral part of the Innovation & Growth Team, supporting them by driving revenue growth and managing a pipeline of opportunities. The core focus of this role is engaging with founders on inbound and outbound sales activities for the innovation services we offer and you will be required to work closely with the R&D, grants and programme leads to maximise opportunities. You will have great attention to detail, great interpersonal skills, feel comfortable taking ownership of your work and will be able to work collaboratively with stakeholders and clients who have different requirements and challenges. The role is great for someone who appreciates variety in what they do and prides themselves on managing multiple tasks effectively, and building strong relationships with diverse stakeholders. We’re especially interested in candidates that have experience in startup engagement, account management or similar with a particular interest in supporting sustainable / cleantech / climate tech start-ups. We still encourage you to apply if you do not directly have this experience previously, but believe you have the necessary skills to be successful in the role. Experience of building and scaling a business is a plus. Tasks will include, but are not limited to: Key responsibilities Ensuring a healthy pipeline of SMEs for innovation services, programmes and projects, by direct outreach to SMEs and partners and by connecting and building our community of SMEs; Manage relationships with potential customers, using a consultative sales approach to understand their needs / challenges and scope tailored solutions; Conduct company health checks with founders to understand their development pathway and direct them to the SME services or programmes, where relevant; Work closely with service leads to facilitate and close deals for services, including preparation of proposals, contract management, and leading negotiations to deal closure; Ensuring our CRM system is accurately updated and maintained, pushing deals through the funnel; Representing Sustainable Ventures at relevant sector events to help to build our network and scout new start ups to join our ecosystem; Working closely with programme managers to ensure that their recruitment and initial startup assessment needs are being met; Leveraging knowledge of the Sustainable Ventures ecosystem to support recruitment for programmes and events, such as industry specific panels. We expect you to have 1 years of relevant experience in a related, customer facing role, ideally in professional services; Experience in customer needs assessments, account management and/or sales; Great interpersonal skills - you are comfortable dealing with internal and external stakeholders that have different motivations; Excellent verbal and written communication skills, confident in making outbound calls & emails to new customers; Ability to take ownership of your work - you can demonstrate that you are a self starter, bring fresh ideas to the table and can complete tasks on time and on budget; Motivated by working to targets to hit personal and business goals; Knowledge of, experience or passion for contributing to the sustainability sector. Desirable An undergraduate degree in business, technology or sustainability related field. Experience in the sustainability/climate sector.
