Manager, Environments
Carnival UK is in search of a Manager, Environments to support our technological direction and nurture a high-performing team.
Responsibilities
* Ensure that all pre‑production environments are consistently available, fit for purpose, and ready to support portfolio delivery, release control, and wider operational needs across a broad range of platforms, technologies, and data types.
* Lead a team of Environment Engineers and develop team skill profile to align with new technologies being introduced into the organisation as part of the technology transformation programme.
* Gather clear requirements from multiple stakeholders and translate HLD/LLD into buildable work packages, coordinating internal and external teams to build and validate infrastructure, databases, and applications.
* Act as a senior escalation point for environment issues; lead investigation, root cause analysis, and remediation while owning capacity monitoring, alerting, and reporting to keep environments stable and ready for use.
* Ensure environments follow internal hardening, compliance, and operational standards, maintaining segregation of duties and ensuring CAB/change processes and data‑handling controls are followed.
* Identify and implement service improvements to simplify, standardise, increase reliability, and automate, building strong working relationships across DTO and sharing knowledge across Carnival brands.
Qualifications
* Strong core Microsoft operating systems and identity technologies experience (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP), alongside Linux operating systems.
* Proven cloud services experience (AWS) combined with strong virtualization expertise (VMware vSphere, vCenter).
* Broad infrastructure platform capability including Storage Area Networks (Dell EMC advantageous) plus Web Application Firewalls and load balancing technologies.
* Knowledge of enterprise networking (LAN/WAN/Wi‑Fi) and firewall technologies, with experience working in fast‑paced technical environments and using IT Service Management systems.
