We are looking for a fully trained and practising autonomous practitioner (nurse or paramedic) who has been assessed as competent to assess, diagnose, treat and refer or discharge patients within a nurse and paramedic led unit to join our dynamic team. The Practitioner will ensure the delivery of high standards of safe and compassionate patient care within a range of minor injury and minor illness presentations, and to stabilise more serious case presentations for further management to other medical services.
It is essential that the successful candidate has a confident calm and empathetic approach and is able to communicate effectively as part of the team in a dynamic environment.
You will be responsible for your own professional practice, ensuring a multidisciplinary approach to patient care and the smooth running of the Minor Injury Unit.
You will also act as a resource for staff, provide professional clinical leadership and provide health education and training to patients and carers as required.
Responsibilities
* Work as part of a skilled team to support the provision of an effective and safe clinical service.
* Assist in providing best practice for patients, involving relatives and carers in decision making when appropriate.
* Provide autonomous highly specialised clinical advice, examination and treatment to patients, precise record keeping and documentation, initiate referrals to other specialists or provide follow‑up care as required.
* Work closely with the Line Manager, MIU colleagues and other clinical colleagues to promote good working relationships with all members of the multi‑disciplinary team.
* Lead by example and act as a role model within the Trust, working collaboratively with colleagues, managers and matrons and ensure effective communication within the team.
* Provide health education and training to patients and carers as required.
* Provide a holistic, patient‑centred approach to planning care and undertake a range of clinical duties.
* Ensure excellent communication skills and maintain a calm and efficient service.
