Shift Electrical Engineer – Cardiff (Static Site)
Location: Cardiff
Hours: 4 on 4 off – Days & Nights (12-hour shifts)
Contract: Permanent
Start Date: ASAP
Site Type: Static commercial site
Our client is seeking an experienced Shift Electrical Engineer to join their on-site engineering team at a large, high-profile static facility in Cardiff.
This role operates on a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern, covering both days and nights, and offers long-term career stability with training and progression opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPMs) and statutory compliance tasks
* Carry out electrical fault finding, testing, and reactive repairs on systems including lighting, power, distribution boards, and control panels
* Support maintenance and operation of electrical plant including switchgear, UPS, and emergency lighting systems
* Ensure compliance with health & safety, permit-to-work systems, and risk assessments
* Record keeping of works carried out and completion of relevant documentation
* Provide support to other trades and assist with general building services tasks as needed
Requirements:
* Recognised electrical qualifications (e.g. City & Guilds 2365, 2330, or NVQ Level 3)
* 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (essential)
* Previous experience in a critical or commercial building environment (e.g. data centres, hospitals, offices)
* Strong understanding of electrical systems, fault finding, and planned maintenance
* Ability to work independently on shift and make sound engineering decisions
* Good communication and reporting skills
