Contract Manager – Construction & Refurbishment Projects
Salary: Up to £72,000 plus company car/allowance and bonus
Location: Portsmouth
We’re working with a well-established construction company that’s looking for an experienced Contract Manager to join their Building Projects team. This role is ideal for someone ready to take ownership of a diverse portfolio of construction and refurbishment projects across various sectors.
You’ll play a key role in driving project delivery while upholding the highest standards in quality, health & safety, and client satisfaction.
What You'll Be Doing:
* Supporting the Operations Manager and Projects Director with the successful delivery of multiple contracts
* Coordinating the production of pre-construction information and ensuring robust planning is in place
* Overseeing on-site operations and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget
* Enforcing compliance with the company’s Construction Management System, including regular checks on site records and documentation
* Acting as Temporary Works Co-ordinator on relevant projects
* Leading and supporting Site Managers to ensure effective site delivery and performance
* Managing contracts through strong commercial awareness, programming, and contract administration
* Producing and maintaining project programmes including tender, construction, target, and weekly/monthly lookaheads
* Building and managing a supply chain aligned with company standards and governance
* Collaborating with Quantity Surveyors to ensure valuations and contractual processes are completed accurately and on time
* Providing regular progress updates and reports to clients and senior leadership
* Monitoring contract performance using KPIs and ensuring alignment with business objectives
* Helping to identify and engage future clients to support business development efforts
What We're Looking For:
* At least 5 years’ experience in a Contract or Project Management role within construction
* Strong leadership and communication skills with a collaborative, hands-on approach
* Proficiency in programming software (ideally Microsoft Project)
* Proven ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously
Essential Qualifications:
* Degree or HNC in Construction or a related discipline
* MCIOB (or working towards it)
* SMSTS
* Temporary Works Co-Ordinator
* First Aid at Work (3-day)
