Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Clinical Coding Department at Wye Valley Trust for a highly motivated individual to join as a Clinical Coding Team Leader, Band 6.
This role offers an excellent chance for an experienced B5 coder to gain managerial experience while maintaining their clinical coding workload. There are also opportunities to develop skills in Clinical Coding Auditing or Training.
The responsibilities include mentoring and training new coders, supervising the Coding Team daily, and ensuring all monthly coding deadlines are met. You will support the Clinical Coding Manager in delivering effective coding services.
We seek applicants eager to progress their Clinical Coding careers, with support provided through training, study time, and development opportunities. The role involves ongoing validation, data analysis, and maintaining high coding accuracy and productivity.
Main duties of the job
1. Supervise the Clinical Coding Team, ensuring compliance with national and local deadlines.
2. Provide high-quality, timely coded data.
3. Train and mentor team members, including validation and informal auditing.

Person Specification
Education & Qualifications (Essential)
* Accredited Clinical Coding Qualification (ACC) or equivalent to degree level
* Postgraduate management qualification or relevant supervisory experience
* Degree-level education or equivalent knowledge/skills as a Clinical Coder
* Continued professional development and attendance at coding workshops
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities (Essential)
* Strong planning and organizational skills
* Extensive practical knowledge of ICD and OPCS classifications
* Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
Experience (Essential)
* Training and mentoring clinical coders to a high standard
* Experience with hospital computer systems
* Experience in clinical coding audits (Desirable)
