Publicist required for a membership organisation at an exciting stage of development, based in Farnham, Surrey!
The PR and Marketing team devises creative, engaging, and strategic campaigns to promote the organisation to a wide range of audiences, including current members, UK, and global media outlets. The team ensures that the organisation's values, ethos, and vision are accurately represented in the media. They also source collaborations with external organisations, charities, celebrities, and events to enhance their profile as the largest and most exciting industry contender in the UK.
With a large and growing membership, this position focuses on supporting the PR and Marketing team in securing UK-wide PR coverage, copywriting tasks, and supporting administrative requests for marketing materials.
While primarily based at the Farnham office, the role requires travel to various PR events across the UK, which may occasionally involve working on weekends and evenings.
As part of the PR support team in a small, friendly office, the successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be a good team player, and possess exceptional attention to detail.
Detailed role responsibilities include:
Reporting to the Head of PR, responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
Promoting campaigns across regional media outlets to generate coverage.
Building relationships with regional and local broadcasters, print, and online outlets.
Writing engaging press releases in collaboration with the Head of PR and liaising with media to secure coverage.
Supporting the PR team in creating copy for newsletters, websites, blogs, and publicity materials.
Managing requests for printed marketing materials for new and existing Leaders, including ordering, distribution, and liaising with the Projects Coordinator and Graphics Designer for amendments and timely delivery.
Experience & Skills
The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, self-motivated communications professional, possibly with experience as a local journalist or press officer, and a strong understanding of regional media. An existing network of media contacts across the country is desirable but not essential.
You should be creative, have a good story sense, and know how to secure excellent coverage. Attention to detail, accurate communication, and strong organizational skills are essential.
