Job overview
You will be working as part of the Stroke Therapy Team. The team is made up of Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, Speech and languagetherapists, Assistant practitioners and a Team administrator, all of whom are dedicated and passionate to provide outstanding care to strokesurvivors.
The successful applicant will be passionate about Stroke and have experience working in health and social care, experience working with patients and skills and behaviours suitable for the post.
The role when working across both acute and community pathways, is to support the assessment and treatment of stroke survivors, to assist withdischarge planning, family/carer communication, attending daily/weekly MDTs, providing goal-led rehabilitation and liaison with the wider MDT.
You will be a motivated individual, keen to support the implementation of change and empower patients to be the best they can be.
Main duties of the job
Our Furness Stroke Therapy Team currently provides acute inpatient Stroke and community Stroke rehabilitation – allowingstaff to be a part of the whole process from admission to discharge and ongoing rehabilitation in the community. This post, will be based in the hospital / acute setting only currently and will support working a Saturday on a rota basis.
The service is currently under development and will eventually include Sunday working.
The stroke team are supportive and committed to providing a friendly and flexible attitude which is patient focused and dedicated to quality care.
Our aim is to ensure all our patients have access to appropriate treatment in the right location at the right time. Your approach to stroke serviceswill require a degree of flexibility as well as creative thinking to establish and form new pathways of care.
Working for our organisation
We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Person specification
Essential and Desirable
* Basic numeracy and literacy (e.g. GCSE level)
* NVQ 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent level training or relevant experience sufficient to meet the competencies of a Band 3 Technical Instructor
* Experience in a Health & Social Care setting
* Ability to prioritise and manage work load independently
* Understanding and able to apply Health & Safety and risk awareness issues.
