KCR are supporting a well‑established public sector organisation in Newton Aycliffe in the recruitment of an experienced Finance Manager to join their senior leadership team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and commercially aware finance professional to take ownership of the organisation's financial operations and lead a small, dedicated team.
The Role
Reporting into senior leadership, you will be responsible for managing the day‑to‑day finance function while supporting long‑term financial planning and governance.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading and developing a small finance team
* Managing the full finance function including AP, AR, payroll and cash flow
* Preparing and monitoring annual budgets and longer‑term financial plans
* Producing timely and accurate management accounts and year‑end statements
* Supporting audit processes and maintaining strong financial controls
* Ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations and frameworks
* Providing financial insight to support strategic decision‑making
The Person
* Proven experience in a finance management or senior finance role
* Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail
* Experience overseeing multiple finance processes (e.g. payroll, AP/AR, reporting)
* Ability to manage, support and develop a small team
* Confident communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders across the organisation
* Strong systems and Excel skills
Desirable:
* Experience within a public sector or local government environment
* A recognised accountancy qualification (or actively studying)
