The Governors of Aberdare Community School are seeking to appoint a passionate and dynamic teacher to establish and deliver multiple subjects in a hybrid primary/secondary arrangement where learners will spend the majority of their time with one teacher to develop basic skills including reading / writing and numeracy, across a range of curriculum subjects. This is a unique opportunity to establish this new way of working for some of our learners that find it hard to make the transition from primary to secondary school.
The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner and could well be in a primary setting or have trained for primary level. They will have a real passion for making a difference to our learners who are finding it hard to make the transition from the regular classroom format to having to navigate their way around multiple classrooms, teachers and different subjects which causes them distress and makes it hard for them to learn.
This post represents an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and creative teacher to join an experienced, supportive and welcoming team of staff who are passionate and caring about doing the very best for our learners at all levels. It is essential that the successful candidate is passionate about improving the life chances of our learners so that they can be successful in the new Curriculum for Wales. As such we are looking for a candidate who is a strong team member and ready for a challenge.
The school opened in the summer of 2015 and is part of the 21st Century school building programme. Our facilities include a modern teaching environment with state of the art computer and technology facilities, including a Lecture Theatre. The school is attached to the Sobell Leisure Centre which offers extensive opportunities for pupils, including an all-weather playing facility and newly opened athletics stadium.
