Forest Liaison Officer
Job description
We’re looking for a Forest Liaison Officer to join our Planning and Environment team in the South Region. You’ll be based at one of the following offices: Selkirk, Ae Village or Dumfries.
Our Planning and Environment teams work closely with specialists and colleagues to design sustainable forests, protect and restore semi-natural habitats, respond to climate change, and enhance our landscapes. We also facilitate responsible renewable energy and infrastructure on Scotland’s forests and land in support of national climate goals.
As a Forest Liaison Officer (FLO), you will act as the main point of contact between an FLS Regional team and developers and contractors, managing day-to-day project issues. You will also work closely with the national renewables and regional estates teams.
You’ll liaise with colleagues to assess project impacts on forest management and land use, help integrate developments into wider FLS land management plans and objectives, and ensure sustainability and compliance.
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring a proactive attitude, strong time management, excellent communication and relationship-building skills, a willingness to learn, and experience or qualifications in forestry, renewables or construction, along with confident use of Microsoft Office.
