What we need!
We’re looking for a pro-active Technical Operator who will work as part of a talented team to provide excellent technical support to BBC Sport, Sports News operation and other BBC departments.
Our Technical Operator have great attention to detail in order ensure a smooth running of the Sport Production System and will enjoy working on the many and varied programmes and outputs across the Sport operation.
What we need you to do!
Operational (Overview):
1. Perform daily technical tasks proactively and to a high standard, with full checking back and reporting of work done
2. Troubleshoot technical SPS issues
3. Provide technical workflow advice and support to BBC staff
Operational (Ingest):
4. Routing and checking ingest sources and bookings for EVS Ingest
5. Using EVS IPDirector to schedule ingests
6. Using EVS IPDirector to manage ingests and media assets
7. File based and camera card ingest using Adobe Premiere Pro and Content Agent systems
8. QC of content before and after ingest to Avid and Adobe Premiere edit systems
9. File downloads and transfers
10. Media backup
11. Organisation, set up and recording of Zoom call requests
Operational (FTA):
12. QC of finished content
13. Media Management
14. Playout
15. LSM operation
16. Communication with production and all technical areas of SPS operations as and when required
Operational (PCA):
17. Front line edit support (Premiere and Avid)
18. Media management
19. File and card ingest inc. multi-cam, frame rate conversion, using Adobe Premiere, Avid and Content Agent
20. QC and delivery of finished content
21. File creation and delivery (AS-11, hi-res VT, archive & Viewing Files)
22. General system monitoring and support
Communication:
23. Efficient communication and escalation of operational technical issues to the appropriate parties
24. Good and clear communication with third parties delivering into/receiving from BBC Sport
25. Prompt communication of any operational issues with production contacts and Operational leads.
26. Effective communication with all parts of the SPS operation with regards daily operational work
Training:
27. Deliver training to new members of the Picture Shop Tech Op Team
Workflow:
28. Spot and flag workflow gaps and areas for potential improvement with Operational leads
What Experience we’re looking for!
A minimum of 2 years’ experience (post-education) as Tech Op/Broadcast Tech Assistant from a post production, broadcast environment, Sports and/or live TV environment specifically within role in technical operations or engineering.
A proven knowledge of file based post production workflows with experience in performing general edit assistant / technical operator tasks such as ingest, syncing and grouping, media management, supporting broadcast kit, QC and file-based delivery of TX masters and / or playout to network.
Knowledge and/or operational experience of the following would also be advantageous:
29. LSM and EVS system knowledge
30. Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premier
Other IMPORTANT information!
31. Must be available to start work, in Salford from the 4th August
32. Training will be provided as the production systems are bespoke.
33. 4x 10 hour days per week. (Days may be shifted, within any one month period, to be 3 days in one week and 5 in another)
34. An average of two weekends in every four
35. Early, late and overnight shifts as required
36. Additional hours as and when appropriate
37. Work on-location as required
38. Reasonable expectation to work Christmas and New Year period as a fair share within the team.
