About the Role We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Deputy Manager to join our Ofsted-registered childrens home in Salisbury. The home provides care and support for children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), many of whom have experienced trauma and require a safe, nurturing, and structured environment.
As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in leading the home, ensuring the highest standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance. Youll play a key role in supervising staff, implementing care plans, and creating a positive, therapeutic culture that promotes the wellbeing and development of every young person.
Key Responsibilities Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring compliance with Ofsted regulations, Childrens Homes Regulations, and Quality Standards .
Provide strong, supportive leadership to staff, ensuring high standards of practice across the team.
Oversee and implement individual care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies.
Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed and that the welfare of the children remains the top priority.
Promote a culture of positivity, respect, and trauma-informed practice within the home.
Assist with staff recruitment, training, supervision, and performance management.
Take responsibility in the absence of the Registered Manager.
Build and maintain positive relationships with children, families, external professionals, and regulatory bodies.
Support the development of the home to achieve and maintain a Good or Outstanding Ofsted rating .
Person Specification Essential:
Minimum 2 years experience in residential childcare.
Supervisory or leadership experience (e.g. Senior Support Worker, Team Leader, Deputy).
Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young Peoples Workforce (Residential Pathway) or equivalent.
Working knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and Ofsted regulations.
Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
A passion for supporting vulnerable children and young people.
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
Working towards or willing to undertake the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management (Residential Childcare) .
Experience working with children with EBD, trauma, or complex needs.
Proven ability to contribute to achieving positive Ofsted inspection outcomes.
