Overview
An exciting opportunity within the Research & Development Department to join us as a Senior Research Therapeutic Radiographer/Nurse. You will be responsible for delivering and clinically managing your own portfolio of academic and commercial research studies, providing expert research support to investigators within the Oncology research specialty (Radiography), with the expectation to work across all research specialities and cover for colleagues when required. This role enables you to gain clinical knowledge and skills around a variety of conditions through close work with consultants, specialist nurses and multidisciplinary teams. You will ensure safe conduct of research in accordance with UK Clinical Trials Regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and provide assurance that the rights, safety and well-being of trial participants are protected.
Responsibilities
* Undertake, co-ordinate and drive a team in the recruitment of patients to clinical trials, working with the Radiotherapy Service to provide a thorough, high quality and efficient service across all aspects of radiotherapy treatment delivery and patient care.
* Work with the team lead to develop and grow the research portfolio across the designated speciality area; manage and coordinate clinical trials in collaboration with research and multidisciplinary teams.
* Assess, plan, organise and provide ongoing care for research participants, maximising compliance with study/trial protocols.
* Provide expert direction, support, supervision and management of staff; assist with training to ensure adherence to protocols and practice guidelines.
Qualifications
* Essential:
o NMC Registered Nurse/Degree in Radiotherapy or equivalent
o NMC/HPC registration
o ICH-GCP certificate or willingness to undertake
* Desirable:
o Teaching
o Masters
Experience
* Essential:
o Significant post qualification clinical experience
o Research trials experience, including academic clinical trials
o Experience with DoH Research Governance Framework, ICH GCP and EU Clinical Trials Regulations
o NHS experience
o Evidence of continued professional development
* Desirable:
o Audit experience
o Research methodology training
Practical Skills & Knowledge
* High level of technical competence across pre-treatment, planning, treatment and imaging
* Understanding of QA and audit in Radiotherapy
* Ability to manage own time and workload with minimal supervision
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to lead and motivate a team
* Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to convey complex information to patients, carers and MDT members

* Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks as part of NHS employment requirements
