About the firm
We are a well‑established, independently owned firm of chartered accountants and business advisors, offering a comprehensive range of services including audit, accounting, tax and corporate finance. What does the team do?
The team predominantly undertakes audit and other assurance work on behalf of our clients, and also handles accounts preparation and tax calculations. We work across a wide range of sectors, from smaller not‑for‑profit organisations to entrepreneurial SMEs and large listed groups, providing variety and learning opportunities for all levels.
In our Bishop’s Stortford based team, you will work with a mix of medium‑sized owner‑managed companies, academy schools, charities and service charge organisations. Each assignment is undertaken by one to four people and usually completed within a couple of weeks with a mix of in‑office, remote and on‑site work.
We are looking to speak to candidates directly, as this role is not available via recruitment agencies.
What will I be doing?
* Assist with audit planning and lead onsite teams (70% of time).
* Prepare accounts and draft tax computations (30% of time).
* Liaise with clients to resolve queries, escalating more complex matters to manager or partner.
* Review team members’ work before passing completed file to manager.
* Coach juniors and provide feedback on the quality of their work and performance.
* Control assignment time in line with the pre‑determined budget.
What experience do I need?
* Part‑qualified or fully qualified – ACA, ICAS, CA or ACCA (minimum criteria).
* Experience of planning and leading external audits in an accountancy practice in the UK (minimum criteria).
* Knowledge of UK GAAP/FRS 102.
* Client‑facing experience.
* Experience of audit software (Caseware) and Microsoft packages.
