Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant

Pay Rate: £105 - £115 per day

Long Term Futures are recruiting for a patient, resilient and proactive Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within a welcoming and supportive primary school in Tamworth, accessible from Birmingham City Centre, Nuneaton and Lichfield.
This role will involve working closely with a pupil with Autism and SEMH needs, supporting their engagement with learning, and positive behaviour development. The school is seeking a calm and consistent individual who can build a strong, trusting relationship and act as a behaviour mentor, assisting the pupil to feel safe and supported throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities
Providing 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism and SEMH needs
Acting as a positive behaviour mentor, supporting emotional regulation and wellbeing
Implementing trauma-informed approaches to behaviour
Supporting the pupil to access learning and remain engaged during lessons
Building a safe, consistent and trusting relationship with the pupil
Encouraging confidence, resilience and positive social interaction
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH and behavioural needs
Understanding of trauma-informed practice
Team Teach training or positive handling training is desirable
Calm, patient and consistent approach to behaviour support
Strong relationship-building skills and a positive attitude
Ability to remain resilient and supportive in challenging situations
