About the role
We are currently hiring for an Engineering Team Leader in our Ossett site to lead a team of 3 engineers on shift. This is a hands-on role, managing and participating in all aspects of the day-to-day maintenance of the site, working a 12-hour shift pattern on a mixture of days and nights. Overtime will be available.
What will I be doing?
Leadership:
* Work closely with Production Team Leads/Managers to deliver high-quality engineering support aligned with operational targets.
* Supervise and coordinate activities of the engineering team supporting manufacturing operations.
* Meet team KPIs related to equipment performance, reliability, and maintenance.
* Coach and develop team members in safe working practices and fault diagnosis.
* Plan and allocate team resources efficiently to complete tasks on time.
* Motivate and manage team activities to meet performance targets, and identify development needs.
* Participate in Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing activities, including root cause analysis.
* Support other teams/departments as needed, demonstrating company values.
* Manage non-conformance and corrective actions to ensure compliance.
Hands-on responsibilities:
* Attend to reactive maintenance requirements.
* Assist in developing PPM systems and scheduling maintenance activities.
* Ensure compliance with legislation and procedures.
* Diagnose, repair, and maintain production machinery.
* Communicate effectively with production staff about issues.
* Maximize line availability by reducing downtime.
* Conduct effective root cause analysis.
* Manage maintenance tools, stores, and equipment.
* Contribute to site improvements.
Qualifications for success:
We seek candidates with diverse backgrounds and proven success in similar roles. Key competencies include:
* Experience working in FMCG environments.
* Engineering apprenticeship with relevant qualifications (e.g., HND/HNC/BTech in Electrical Engineering) or equivalent experience.
* Strong fault-finding skills.
* PLC fault diagnosis (desirable).
* Leadership experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
