Position: School Liasion Officer Location: Central London Salary: £27,6547 - £28,340 per annum Start date: As soon as possible Smart Teachers is working in partnership with a leading London-based public transport safety initiative to recruit a confident and community-focused School Liaison Officer to support the delivery of Project Guardian across secondary schools. This is a rewarding opportunity for a proactive individual with experience in education, safeguarding, youth engagement, or community outreach who is passionate about student safety and public awareness. About the role: The School Liaison Officer will act as a key link between schools and a major London transport safety programme focused on tackling unwanted sexual behaviour and improving reporting confidence among young people. You will deliver engaging assemblies and workshops, build strong relationships with Designated Safeguarding Leads and pastoral teams, and support schools in embedding preventative education around safe travel and respectful behaviour. The role involves regular travel across London. Key responsibilities: Deliver high-quality, age-appropriate workshops and assemblies to students (KS3–KS4) Develop and maintain strong partnerships with secondary schools and colleges Provide guidance to school leaders on reporting pathways and safeguarding processes Support awareness campaigns linked to public safety initiatives Monitor engagement impact and contribute to programme evaluation reports Liaise with safeguarding leads to ensure best practice alignment Requirements: Experience working with young people in schools, colleges or youth settings Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures Confidence delivering presentations to large groups Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to build trust with both students and senior school staff Experience in PSHE, pastoral support, youth work, or community safety (desirable) Understanding of issues relating to harassment, consent and personal safety (desirable) Smart Teachers do not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, race, colour, religion, disability or sexual orientation, and we welcome applications from all sections of the community.
