6-Month Contract with a Local Authority Summary The Migrant Support Worker plays a crucial role in providing practical, emotional, and housing-related support to migrant individuals and families facing challenges in settling safely and independently in the UK. This position ensures that households understand their rights, access essential services, navigate language and cultural barriers, and progress toward stable accommodation. The postholder collaborates with Housing Officers, statutory partners, and community organizations to deliver culturally competent support that enhances wellbeing, reduces risks, prevents homelessness, and fosters community integration. Responsibilities Deliver holistic, person-centered support to migrant households, including those in temporary accommodation. Build trust with individuals and families who may have experienced trauma, displacement, or exploitation. Support understanding of UK systems such as housing, welfare, health, and education. Arrange interpreter support and use accessible communication to overcome language barriers. Identify suitable private rented sector (PRS) properties and liaise with landlords and letting agents. Prepare families for PRS applications, affordability checks, and referencing processes. Attend property viewings and support tenancy sign-ups. Essential Experience Required Experience working with vulnerable families, migrants, refugees, or individuals with complex needs. Understanding of housing rights, welfare systems, and tenancy sustainment. Experience working in a culturally competent, trauma-informed manner. Arabic speaking desirable. Essential Qualifications Required Relevant qualification or training in Housing, Social Care, Community Development, or Support Work (or equivalent experience). Additional Information Working hours: 28 hours per week, ideally over 5 days but could facilitate 4 days. Location: Rugby Town Hall, primarily on-site with some flexibility. Basic DBS required.
