What You’ll Be Doing
As a Pensions Assistant, you will be a key member of our helpdesk, serving as a first point of contact for our Local Government Pension Scheme. You will handle phone, email, and postal enquiries from over 13,500 scheme members across 50 different employers. Your role will involve carefully updating and maintaining member data on our system, ensuring every change is accurate and compliant with data protection regulations. You will assist with basic benefit calculations and learn the intricacies of the pension scheme through on-the-job experience and dedicated training. You will also contribute to important data rectification projects and provide administrative support to the wider pensions team, all while developing a strong working knowledge of pension regulations.

What You’ll Bring
We are looking for someone with a strong willingness to learn and the capacity to absorb detailed information about pension regulations. You will need a GCSE pass in Maths and English, or an equivalent demonstrable ability. While direct pensions experience is not required, you must be proactive in managing your work, with a keen eye for accuracy and the ability to meet deadlines under supervision. You will be a proficient user of Microsoft Word and Excel. Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will need to handle enquiries, including sensitive situations such as dealing with death cases, with tact and empathy. You must be able to work collaboratively as part of a supportive team.
