Course Number and Title: HST440H1F – Health & Pharmaceuticals (EMERGENCY posting)
Course Description: A critical examination of drug development, including the role of health professionals and the pharmaceutical industry in researching, testing, marketing, licensing, and evaluating pharmaceutical drugs. Topics include the differing needs for drug development, evaluation and dispensing in lower income countries, and potential conflicts of interest in drug development.
Estimated Course Enrolment: 45 students
Estimated TA Support: 1 position (20 hours)
Class Schedule: Tuesdays, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Delivery Method
The delivery method for this course is currently in-person. Please note that, in keeping with public health advisories, the course delivery method may change as determined by the Faculty or the College.
Sessional Dates of Appointment
1 September 2025 to 31 December 2025 (Fall semester)
Compensation
Salary: $54.27/hr plus 4% vacation pay
Notes: Should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Health Studies or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Ongoing master's or doctoral research with a demonstrated interest in the development, marketing, and promotion of drugs; medical ethics; research practices and integrity preferred. Demonstrated superior teaching expertise in undergraduate teaching is preferred.
Relevant Criterion
Previous experience is the more relevant criterion than the need to acquire experience in respect of this posted position.
Description of Duties
Meeting with instructor, responding to student inquiries and marking papers, tests & exams, and other course preparation and organization tasks. The position may also involve attending lectures. Duties of this position shall be performed at the campus on which the position is located. Final availability of the position(s) is contingent upon enrolment, budgetary considerations and the determination of appointments as governed by the collective agreement.
