Data Cabling Technician

Established and trusted IT Managed Services company have an urgent requirement for a customer focused Data Cabling Technician to join their team based at their beautifully refurbished offices located perfectly in Chandlers Ford.
My client is an ISO accredited growing managed IT support company based in Chandlers Ford, Eastleigh, Hampshire providing IT support, Cyber Security, VoIP and Cloud services to businesses across the South Coast and beyond.
The Role
My client is urgently seeking to appoint an experienced Data Cabling Technician
The position is ideally of a full time and permanent nature but all applications will be considered as there is plenty of flexibility.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of installing structured data cabling across various sites and scales and ideally would have worked in a similar role and gained at least 5 years of commercial experience. The role is hands-on, site-based, and focused on safe, high-quality installation to programme.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Installation of structured data cabling systems in commercial environments
Fibre optic cabling including pulling, terminating, and testing (splicing advantageous)
Setting up network cabinets, patch panels, and structured cabling systems
Installing routers, switches, access points, and other network hardware
Running cable pathways (trays, conduits, trunking) to compliance standards
Diagnosing faults and performing repairs or re-terminations
Integrating systems such as CCTV, access control, VoIP,IoT devices and door entry systems.
Testing, labeling, and fault finding using Fluke or equivalent testers
Working from technical drawings, schematics, and site specifications
Working on offices, education buildings, laboratories, warehouses, and data centre projects
Install and deliver data cabling works in line with drawings and scope
Coordinate materials, tools, and access to avoid delays
Liaise with site managers and client representatives
Maintain high standards of workmanship and site housekeeping
Follow all site Health & Safety procedures
Attend site inductions and required training
Identify and report hazards
Ensure compliance for yourself and others on site
Skills and Experience
5 years proven experience as a data cabling engineer or structured cabling engineer
Strong background in network cabling, telecoms, and low-voltage installations
Own data cabling tools, testers, and full PPE
Ability to work independently and as part of a site team
Good understanding of structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA)
Comfortable working on live construction sites
Reliable, punctual, and professional on site
