We are looking for an Assistant Shift Manager to Join our fast-paced, reactive transport team. You’ll play a key role in delivering the daily plan, overseeing loading activities, and managing attendance and absence records.
You’ll also support the Shift Manager across all areas of transport operations and people management, helping ensure smooth and compliant performance throughout the shift.
10. Oversee the dispatch board, record colleague arrivals, and ensure timely route departures
11. Manage and report colleague absences effectively
12. Coordinate with staffing agencies to fill operational gaps as needed
13. Conduct colleague meetings, including welfare check-ins, investigations, and disciplinary hearings
14. Support the monitoring and enforcement of legal transport compliance standards
15. Collaborate with the warehouse team to resolve loading and operational issues
16. Perform routine driver licence checks to ensure compliance
17. Assign and track vehicles using the fleet monitoring system
18. Prepare and process reports related to driver infringements
19. Investigate personal and vehicle incidents
20. Provide operational support across all areas of the transport function as required
Essential:
21. Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
22. Office and administrative experience at management level
23. High degree of confidentiality, accuracy & effective communication
24. Ability to lead an effective team
25. Ability to challenge influence and give feedback
26. Technical capability around systems and process flows
27. Intermediate level of all Microsoft packages
28. Ability to build effective relationships within & across departments
29. High level of problem solving and resilience
30. Tachomaster and Microlise experience
Desirable:
31. CPC trained qualification
32. SAP experience
