Job Description
The salary for this role is £77,239 (inclusive of a Specialist Allowance). Onsite working is expected for 3 days each week, with flexible working options actively supported.
This role can be based at Culham, Oxfordshire, with travel (domestic and international) on a regular basis.
Eligibility for UK security clearance is required (must have resided in the UK for the last 5 years), including DBS checks for criminal convictions and possibly a search of open source data.

The role is based in the fusion safety domain and involves working with national and international regulatory frameworks for future fusion power plants.
There will be a need to engage with government, regulatory bodies, international organisations such as the IAEA, industry, and fusion groups on safety, security and environment topics.
Responsibilities
* Enable regulatory familiarisation and training in fusion by providing site visits and subject matter expert presentations.
* Lead a team, motivating performance and ensuring project completion.
* Foster engagement with other fusion organisations and regulatory bodies in the UK and internationally to influence and support harmonisation of fusion safety regulation.
* Guide technical review of safety documents as required, where fusion-specific expertise is needed.
* Present at domestic and international conferences and seminars.
Qualifications
Essential Requirements
* Advanced degree level Science or Engineering qualification (or equivalent experience).
* Good working knowledge of the nuclear, radiological and high-hazard health and safety regulatory framework, legislation and guidance.
* Experience in regulatory interactions at a technical or strategic level.
* Ability to work collaboratively, influence others, and seek diverse input from the national and international fusion safety community.
* Dynamic and inspirational leadership, able to set direction, prioritise in an agile manner, and engage people in an approachable and inclusive way.
Desirable Requirements
* Experience in producing safety case standards, procedures and guidance.
* Passion for innovative approaches to fusion safety, security and environment proportional to hazards.
* Ability to interpret technical information for non-safety audiences and communicate with impact at all levels.
