148 hours over 4 weeks plus paid overtime
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Visitor Services team, duty managing our artistic events programme and working with our conferencing and private events programme.
Your role will include managing a variety of events in the vibrant and historic Brighton Dome Concert Hall and across the city and beyond during the Brighton Festival in May.
Your days will be split between advancing and coordinating our conferences and private events stream, as well as working closely with our production team to lead the Visitor Services elements of community events, open days, and Duty Managing our programmed public events.
As an Event Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the smooth running of events and leading stewards, volunteers, and security staff while they are on shift. Our programmed public events include standing rock & pop, contemporary dance, comedy, classical music, family events, and more. You will serve as the first point of contact at events, leading the team and ensuring health, safety, and enjoyment of all attendees. Providing exceptional customer service and advocating for diversity and inclusivity are essential, ensuring all our events and venues are welcoming and accessible.
Advancing the conference and private events programme and community events will give you an opportunity to utilize your production skills and technical knowledge to organize exceptional events from contract stage through to execution. You will create event plans, risk assessments, and coordinate staffing, catering, and technical requirements.
You should have excellent organizational skills, proficiency in Office 365, and the ability to learn other IT systems quickly. Event Managers need to remain calm and composed under pressure, adapt approaches to different people and circumstances, and motivate teams and colleagues to deliver outstanding events. Experience gained front of house in arts, events, entertainment, or conferencing settings is essential. A passion for environmentally sustainable, inclusive, and accessible events is also required.
