We wish to appoint a committed and highly effective teacher to teach Design and Technology across our key stages. You should be educated to degree level and hold qualified teacher status (QTS) as well as having experience of teaching DT/Engineering to KS3, KS4 and possibly KS5.
Applicants should have a background in electronics, electrical engineering, or a closely related field, with relevant industry experience. This should include practical experience of circuit design and testing, fault finding and diagnostics, and the use of industry‑standard tools such as oscilloscopes, CAD and simulation software. A strong understanding of real-world engineering workflows and professional standards is highly desirable.
Candidates should also be confident in delivering the underpinning theory that supports practical application, including electrical principles, calculations such as Ohm's Law and power, and data interpretation. Experience of applied, hands‑on delivery that clearly links learning to industry practice would be advantageous.
We are proud to be part of the Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust, a family of secondary, middle, primary and first schools in Durham, Gateshead, Northumberland and Sunderland. Bishop Wilkinson is the largest Catholic education trust in the North East of England and will have a total of 48 schools. This is an exciting time to join our supportive, and growing team.
