We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Disability Advisor to contribute to a student-centred specialist advice and guidance service.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide confidential, impartial advice and support to students, enabling them to participate fully in all aspects of their course. They will:
1. assess students' needs
2. prepare bespoke Suggested Reasonable Adjustments Documents
3. carry out screenings for specific learning difficulties and autism
4. refer students on for assessment where appropriate
The role entails liaison with departments (academic and other) regarding the provision of appropriate reasonable adjustments and advising prospective students and their families on support and accessibility. The post holders will:
5. maintain accurate student records and review support provision
6. contribute to the development, review and implementation of the College's disability policies and procedures.
7. be an active member of the DAS Team, providing support to the Senior Disability Advisor, the Head of Service and other Team members.
You must be educated to degree level, and with evidence of relevant continuing professional development in the field of disability, all applicants will have a proven track record of giving advice and facilitating support for disabled people.
You should also have a good knowledge of the needs of disabled people preferably within an educational setting.
You must possess excellent IT skills, a proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and experience of maintaining accurate, confidential client case notes, as well as an understanding of the Equality Act and Data Protection legislation.
