Experience & Requirements
* Registered Nurse licensed within state of employment, license must be in good standing.
* Experience in providing services to a mentally ill and/or correctional population preferred.
* Must follow all applicable technical instructions and health services bulletins.
* CPR certification.
A background check, security clearance, and drug screening are required for this role.

Responsibilities
Below is a list of your responsibilities as a Behavioral Health RN with YesCare:
Location: Birmingham, AL at the WR.WC Detention Center
* Assist in ensuring 24-hour coverage nursing services of the Mental Health Unit and appropriate provision of clinical treatment.
* Coordinate Mental Health Unit sick call to ensure nurse triage and appropriate referral for physician follow-up.
* Perform clinical duties including:
o Implement psychiatric and physician orders in a timely, clinically effective manner.
o Administer and monitor medications in accordance with policies and procedures of the Mental Health Unit.
o Conduct Initial Nursing Assessment for inmates admitted to the Mental Health Unit or as soon as the inmate's condition permits.
o Document changes in inmate functioning and critical incidents in the Medical Record.
o Complete Nursing Discharge Summary when inmates are transferred from the Mental Health Unit.
* Coordinate psychiatric services to inform psychiatrists of psychotropic medication compliance, changes in inmate functioning, and laboratory test results in a timely manner.
* Provide group counseling and activities to ensure Level II inmates receive two hours of out-of-cell time daily.
* Maintain and update Medication Administration Records (MARS).
* Adhere to security regulations and confidentiality requirements regarding inmate information.
* Monitor medical supplies to ensure proper inventory and reordering.
* Collaborate effectively with Health Services staff, prison staff, and CMS administrative staff.
* Comply with CMS employee standards and applicable facility standards, including maintaining a professional appearance, fostering harmonious relationships, and timely reporting absences.
