About The Role
Wirral Council is seeking a dynamic and compassionate individual to lead our administrative and visitor services team within the Cemeteries and Crematorium Service. This is a rewarding leadership role where you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Landican Cemetery Office and reception points, ensuring a high-quality, empathetic service is delivered to the recently bereaved and all visitors. You will be responsible for managing the administrative team, ensuring accurate record-keeping, efficient scheduling of services, and full compliance with statutory requirements. The role includes developing and delivering marketing materials, coordinating events, and supporting applications for external awards such as Green Flag.
This role is office based and may occasionally require weekend or evening hours. You should be able to travel across the Borough and work from various locations as needed. Health and safety considerations include lone working, use of display screen equipment, and occasional exposure to challenging behaviour.
About The Candidate
You will also contribute to the service’s Management and Development Plans and lead on income generation initiatives, including securing external funding and presenting business cases. We are looking for someone with strong leadership and communication skills, who can inspire staff and volunteers, manage change effectively, and promote a positive image of the service. You should have a detailed understanding of cemetery and crematorium operations, heritage and conservation standards, and visitor engagement.
