Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager in the ICT Department of West Hertfordshire Hospitals Trust. The role is to support the ICT department with a number of key projects.
We are seeking a highly motivated PM with experience who is passionate and has excellent organisation and communication skills. This PM will need a good understanding of the NHS and a background of IT‑related projects.
This role offers significant experience working with multidisciplinary teams and insight into a diverse range of issues.
The role will be part of a dynamic ICT team committed to achieving improvements directly within the IT department and West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust as a whole.
This is a secondment/fixed term contract until 30 September 2027.
Main Duties of the Job
* Manage projects from initiation to successful delivery.
* Establish project milestones and plans in collaboration with the ICT Programme Manager, other project managers and the project sponsor.
* Plan projects that impact across clinical and non‑clinical areas; e.g. delivery of new systems, new technical infrastructure or information systems.
* Complete all user requests for project work within the specified time.
* Oversee the installation, configuration and management of all hardware/software of information system projects as assigned within the project timelines.
Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
* Responsible for managing the installation, repair and maintenance of IT equipment prior to handover and completion of project.
* Maintain documentation and tracking of required fixes, enhancements and testing.
* Conduct surveys/audits as necessary for projects.
* Persuade project boards and staff of the importance of projects, negotiate priorities on IT and clinical developments with non‑ICT managers, linking in with other initiatives.
* Develop empathy and understanding of physical needs and build relationships with clinical staff to gain support of IT initiatives.
* Create and maintain project documentation, including budgets, minutes, issue reports, status reports, cost reports, benefit measurements, payment schedules, project schedules and key decisions.
* Ensure project documentation is complete and error‑free.
Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent, or previous experience in project management.
* PRINCE2 practitioner or equivalent NHS Project Management experience.
* Postgraduate degree in Health Informatics or related discipline, e.g. MSc.
Knowledge
* PRINCE2 or other structured methodology.
* Knowledge of project lifecycles.
* MS Office, including MS Project or other project tools.
* IT knowledge to understand technical and systems issues.
* Substantial knowledge of operations, change and project management methodologies and techniques.
* Knowledge of NHS issues and processes.
Experience
* Extensive experience and track record of managing and implementing projects including the management of change.
* Experience of working with multidisciplinary teams.
* Experience in monitoring and reporting of project budgets.
* NHS or other public services background including the management of change.
