WRAP Nursery Chef
Are you passionate about cooking and introducing children to tasty and nutritious food?
WRAP is located in central Brighton, just a pebble's throw from Brighton station. Housed in a pair of Victorian townhouses, we are Brighton's Family Friendly coworking space, combining three floors of workspace for our members and two floors of nursery provision.
We are looking for someone to join the WRAP Team to prepare food for our youngest members.
The role:
We are looking for a cook with experience preparing healthy and nutritious food for little ones. Our Kitchen currently prepares lunch and snacks for around 40-45 children each day.
Key Responsibilities:
* Adhere to the Policies & Procedures of WRAP Nursery and comply with the Children Act, Health and Safety legislation and within the guidelines of Ofsted and the National Standards.
* Ensure confidentiality is maintained in the nursery at all times.
* Be responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring compliance with registration and legislative requirements at all times.
* Prepare a suitably balanced rotating menu taking into account dietary and cultural requirements of the children. Note: sustainability is top priority at WRAP. Our menu is 100% plant based.
* Ensure that all individual dietary allergy requirements are catered for in line with parental guidance.
* Maintain necessary kitchen procedures and records in accordance with the Environmental Health policies and processes.
* Have total responsibility of the kitchen, cleaning all of the equipment and appliances, take temperatures of the food, fridge and freezer and record these in the kitchen file.
* On a daily basis that all crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils are washed in accordance with food safety guidelines
* Ensure that all foods are ready at the specified time and correctly served.
* Implement and maintain the company's equal opportunities policy ensuring that children, parents and the staff team are valued and practice is positive and non-discriminatory.
* Give daily feedback to the Operations Manager about the kitchen including any situation that may be detrimental to the company.
* Ensure the effective and regular removal of waste materials to the designated waste area.
* Use food preparation equipment and ensure the economic use of materials, equipment and energy.
* Work as part of a team and use your own initiative.
* Manage your own time and prioritise tasks.
* Have a friendly, flexible approach.
* Be responsible for control, storage and rotation of kitchen stock.
* Order food and ingredients in line with WRAP policies.
* Be professional, polite and positive in all verbal and non-verbal interactions with staff, parents and children at all times.
* Perform any other duties appropriate to the post as directed by the Nursery Managers and Nursery Directors.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Chef / Cook: minimum 3 year (required) - with experience in plant based food preparation.
* Experience with plant based cooking essential.
* Strong communication skills both written and verbal
Job Types: Temporary role to cover holiday.
Hourly rate: £14 / hour
Schedule:
* Day shift
* Monday to Friday 9am - 3pm regular hours.
Weekend, chaildrens party host shifts also available.
