My client in Oxfordshire is looking for a skilled Fabricator / Fitter Technician to join their team in Kidlington. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality prototype development, retrofit, and series production within a regulated aviation environment.
What you'll be doing:
* Manufacturing detailed parts from sheet metal to aviation standards
* Assembling components and inspecting subcontractor parts for compliance
* Applying protective coatings and working closely with the design team on prototype projects
* Carrying out repairs to helicopter structures using sheet metal and composite techniques
* Supporting the day-to-day operations of the hangar, including aircraft handling
* Ensuring all work aligns with safety and airworthiness standards
* Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation in line with industry best practices
What you'll bring:
* Ability to interpret detailed engineering drawings and data
* Strong manual skills and interest in DIY projects
* Reliable, calm under pressure, and well-organised with a keen eye for detail
* Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
* Knowledge of manufacturing techniques for close-tolerance sheet metal parts
* Experience with fasteners, rivets, mechanical fasteners, and adhesive bonding used in aviation
* Proficiency with Google Office and MS products
Essential qualifications and skills:
* Minimum Level 2 qualification in Fabrication
* Demonstrable work examples via photographic record
* Experience in sheet metal working, metal fabrication, or mechanical fitting
* Clean driving licence
Desirable skills:
* Aviation or composites experience
* Knowledge of SAP / Envision systems
