Consultant Psychiatrist – Perinatal Services – Oldham
Greater Manchester West Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to lead the Perinatal Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) within Cluster 3, Oldham. The role is full‑time with a core schedule of Monday‑Friday 9 am‑5 pm, and the successful candidate will serve as clinical leader, manage a caseload of complex perinatal patients, coordinate multidisciplinary care, and provide specialist expertise for obstetric liaison and pre‑conception counselling.
Main Responsibilities
* Lead clinical assessment, formulation and management of perinatal patients with complex and treatment‑resistant presentations.
* Act as clinical leader of the Perinatal CMHT, chair pre‑birth planning meetings and run the pre‑conception counselling clinic.
* Provide management in treatment‑resistant and complex presentations, assess and manage risk including suicide risk, vulnerabilities, health safety and harm to others.
* Prepare court reports and Mental Health Review Tribunal reports, attend hearings.
* Respond to urgent and routine advice requests, advise on safety of psychotropic medication in pregnancy and breastfeeding.
* Run obstetric liaison clinics, collaborate with Specialist Perinatal Mental Midwife on birth plans.
* Carry out a caseload of patients with complex care needs and increased risk in the perinatal period.
Qualifications
* Medical degree (MRCPsych or equivalent).
* MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
* Specialist Register.
* GMC registration.
* Approved Clinician (desirable).
Preferred Experience
Experience in perinatal psychiatry, community mental health, multidisciplinary collaboration and obstetric liaison.
Pay and Contract
£109,725 to £145,478 per annum, permanent full‑time contract, core hours Monday‑Friday 9 am‑5 pm.
