Location: Office-based – York
Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

The Opportunity
A leading provider of Fire and Security solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator & Designer to join its team at its York office. This forward‑thinking organisation delivers comprehensive, end‑to‑end services — from design, supply, installation and commissioning through to maintenance — across multiple industries.
This newly created senior position offers the chance to take ownership of the design and estimation function, supporting strategic growth and ensuring excellence in every project.
The Role
The Senior Estimator & Designer will be responsible for producing accurate, commercially sound quotations and high‑quality CAD documentation for fire and security projects. From pre‑sales through to project handover, this role ensures customer satisfaction, operational efficiency and profitability. The successful candidate will also play a key leadership role, mentoring junior colleagues, developing standards and driving innovation in estimating and CAD processes.
Key Responsibilities
 * Lead the creation of technical documentation, CAD drawings and quotations for tenders and proposals.
 * Ensure all cost calculations are accurate, achievable and aligned with commercial targets.
 * Manage the tender‑to‑delivery process, preparing BOMs, CAD drawings and system schematics.
 * Act as the main point of contact between clients and internal teams to manage scope and design changes.
 * Enhance estimating and CAD processes by introducing new tools, standards and workflows.
 * Mentor junior team members, promoting a culture of quality, accountability and continuous improvement.
 * Support senior leadership with business planning, forecasting and strategic initiatives.
About You
 * Minimum 7 years’ experience in CAD and estimating within the Fire and Security industry, including leadership responsibilities.
 * Proven success managing large‑scale tenders and delivering profitable outcomes.
 * Advanced knowledge of 3D CAD and estimating software.
 * Excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills.
 * Strategic thinker with strong commercial awareness and problem‑solving ability.
 * In‑depth knowledge of CAD conventions and industry standards.
Technical Experience (Desirable)
 * Fire Systems: Advanced, Gent, Kentec
 * Access Control: Assa Abloy, Paxton
 * CCTV: Hikvision, Mobotix
 * Data & Intruder: Excel, CAT Cabling
 * Relevant qualifications in Fire Systems, Security or Data Infrastructure (preferred but not essential).
