Can you make a real difference by supporting children with complex needs, helping them learn, grow, and thrive in their own unique way?

Fresh Start in Education are looking for experienced and person-centred SEN Learning Support Assistants to work on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis with primary-aged children with learning, communication, sensory and personal care needs in their homes or other settings in the Oxford area.

This role involves planning and delivering communication, life skills and basic literacy and numeracy skills sessions in creative, practical and engaging ways on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis. The role will also involve emotional and behavioural support, as well as providing personal care when necessary, supported by another member of staff. Knowledge of Makaton, PECS or Gestalt Language Processing is desirable.

What you'll be doing:

* Providing 1:1 or 2:1 support to children and young people in their homes or educational settings in the Oxford area
* Planning and delivering learning and engagement activities at Early Years levels, as well as providing communication, emotional and behavioural support
* Running sessions during the school day (term time only) that typically last 3 to 5 hours
* Engaging with students who may have autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, GDD or complex needs and helping them achieve outcomes at their pace
* Working flexibly as part of a compassionate, expert-led team that values you and your skills

Who we're looking for:

We welcome applications from individuals who have:

* Experience (at least 1 year) as teachers, tutors, teaching assistants, SEN specialists and education professionals who have directly supported young people with SEN/SEMH needs
* A background in Early Years, Primary or specialist SEND environments
* Familiarity with PECS, Makaton or other communication strategies
* De-escalation and behaviour management skills
* A minimum of 2 consistent weekdays available
* An up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and child protection

* £25–£35 per hour, depending on experience

Due to the nature of the work and our commitment to safeguarding our students, you will be required to undergo thorough background checks including ID, Right to Work and employment checks and will also require an enhanced DBS.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary

Contract length: 12 months

Pay: £25.00-£35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 6 – 30 per week
