Role Overview

Join a leading engineering organisation at the forefront of advanced electrical and manufacturing technologies. This role sits within a Manufacturing Readiness & Technologies Team, focused on developing and implementing innovative manufacturing solutions and improving operational efficiency.

The team is responsible for preparing manufacturing operations to successfully deliver new projects, ensuring optimal efficiency, quality, and cost performance through the application of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.

About the Role

Reporting to the Manufacturing Readiness & Technologies Leader, the Lead Manufacturing Readiness Engineer plays a key role in driving lean initiatives across manufacturing processes and operational teams. The position focuses on delivering measurable improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost, while promoting a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead Capex investment projects from proposal and cost-benefit analysis through to installation, commissioning, and handover.
* Drive Lean and Kaizen improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
* Plan and coordinate preparation activities, including installation and commissioning of new equipment and contractor supervision.
* Track and report the impact and cost savings of improvement initiatives.
* Present initiatives to senior stakeholders to secure funding and approval.
* Analyse workflows, space utilisation, and equipment layout to optimise manufacturing operations.
* Mentor and support less experienced engineers, fostering team development and collaboration.
* Work cross-functionally within a global team to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction (internal and external).

Candidate Profile

* Experienced Lean leader with strong leadership and change management capabilities.
* Engineering background, ideally with CAD design experience (preferably Creo), including tooling concept development through to detailed design.
* Demonstrated experience leading Lean initiatives and/or relevant Lean qualifications.
* Strong drive and motivation to achieve continuous improvement and meet challenging goals.
* Excellent organisational, time management, and decision-making skills with a structured and methodical approach.
* High level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
* Ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting EHS, Quality, Delivery, and Cost targets.
* Strong communication skills, including presentation and stakeholder engagement at senior levels.
* Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes, engineering challenges, and best practices.
* Proven ability to lead engineering design activities and design reviews.
* Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and technical documentation.
* Experience working in dynamic, team-oriented environments.
* Ability to train shop floor operators and clearly communicate complex engineering concepts.
* Flexible and adaptable, with willingness to travel and work extended hours when required.
