Job summary

Highly Specialist CAMHS Practitioner open to Clinical or Counselling Psychologists, Family Therapists, Psychotherapists, Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Therapists, CBT Therapists, Arts Therapists

Tower Hamlets Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is a friendly, thriving and innovative service based in Whitechapel, East London. In line with Trust policy, the service has adopted a hybrid clinical working model of direct face-to-face and remote working as appropriate. The service embraces continual improvement and the wellbeing of staff and has a high degree of enthusiasm for quality improvement and working together with partner agencies to provide the highest quality service to the population we serve.

This post is a permanent 0.8 post (4 days), 2 days within our Emotional & Behavioural Team and 2 days within our Triage Team.


Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be expected to:

* To offer assessment and flexible, evidence-based and outcome focused episodes of care and interventions to children, young people and families within the Emotional & Behavioural 1 pathway presenting with moderate to severe mental health needs.
* Within the Triage team, as a senior clinician, assist the team to support our service users in moving smoothly through the referral, treatment and discharge processes within the Tower Hamlets CAMHS service and to and from other services in their designated Borough.
* To assist in leading and building on service developments such as reducing wait times, triage and signposting and developing the therapeutic offer.
* To provide line management and clinical supervision.

Person Specification

Education/Qualification/Training Essential

* Qualification in appropriate mental health/social welfare profession including Clinical Psychologist / Counselling Psychologist / Family Therapist / Social Worker / Psychotherapist / CBT therapist / Nurse/OT/Arts Therapist
* Registration with relevant professional body (e.g. HCPC, BABCP)

Desirable

* Qualifications/ training in specialist skills, e.g. CBT post graduate diploma

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Essential

* Substantial experience working as a registered practitioner delivering evidence-based interventions with children, young people and families
* Substantial experience working with neuro-divergence
* Substantial experience of risk assessment and risk management
* Experience, skills and flexibility to contribute to and facilitate effective working within a multi-disciplinary team setting
* Experience of providing line management to others
* Experience of providing clinical supervision to others
* Experience of service improvement and/or QI projects
* Experience of working across multiple agencies/services
* Knowledge, understanding and experience with diverse racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds and families with a high level of deprivation, including working with cultural advocates/interpreters
* Experience of screening and managing referrals
