Overview
CNC 3.4 5 axis Miller Programmer – Halstead, Essex. 1 x Night Shift – 11:00–07:00 Sunday to Thursday. 1 x Shift – 07:00–15:00 / 15:00–23:00 on rotation. Pay £35,000–£45,000 depending on shift and experience. Unlimited overtime available.

Role Overview
As a CNC Miller Programmer, you will program, set up, and operate CNC milling machines to high-precision tolerances—primarily using vertical and horizontal machining centres. You’ll work within a flexible multi-shift schedule (including early/late shifts) in a dynamic machine shop focused on machining castings to aerospace standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Program CNC milling machines (HAAS/Fanuc controls) from engineering drawings or CAD models
* Machine setup & tooling: install fixtures, load tooling, set datums and offsets
* Operate & monitor machines: oversee production runs, adjust parameters as needed, ensure quality and efficiency
* Quality assurance: inspect components using a range of precision measuring equipment and liaise with CMM team
* Process improvement: contribute to cycle time reduction, tooling strategies, and machining efficiency
* Documentation & safety: ensure all work complies with H&S requirements and internal quality systems
Required Experience
* Proven experience in programming, setting, and operating CNC milling machines (3, 4, or 5-axis)
* Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles
* Familiarity with HAAS/Fanuc or similar control systems
* Experience machining castings or complex, aerospace-grade components
* Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
Desirable Qualifications
* Completed apprenticeship or formal qualification in mechanical or manufacturing engineering
* Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g. Edgecam, Fusion 360, or Mastercam)
* Forklift/crane licence beneficial for loading and unloading large castings
