Job Description:
Safety Engineering Opportunities in Derby, Full Time, On-site
We have an exciting opportunity for specialists with nuclear safety engineering experience or those interested in training in this area to help power submarines and develop future solutions. Our team includes over 100 employees in nuclear safety roles, with plans to double this number in the next 4-5 years as we expand into new nuclear applications such as space, Micro Reactors, nuclear propulsion for the Australian Navy, and collaborations with the MoD on nuclear defense solutions.
Leadership Opportunities in Safety Engineering include roles in technical programme management and people management, supporting our expanding Safety Engineering function. These roles are vital for our safety capability growth, and we welcome candidates with a strong safety background and leadership potential.
Why Rolls-Royce? We are a historic and innovative brand, designing and servicing systems critical for safety and reliability. We are a leader in nuclear propulsion for the Royal Navy and offer various Safety Career opportunities within our Submarines Business.
We offer excellent development opportunities, a competitive salary, and benefits such as pension, bonus, employee support, and discounts. Our inclusive, digital-first culture promotes continuous learning and career growth.
We seek safety engineers at various experience levels, from new graduates eager to develop to seasoned specialists ready for leadership roles. Relevant disciplines include Probabilistic Safety Assessment, Nuclear Safety Case, Human Factors, Safety & Reliability, Containment and Consequence, and Criticality. Experience from industries like civil nuclear, oil & gas, chemical processing, or rail is also valued. A degree in engineering or a scientific discipline is preferred.
We are committed to diversity and inclusion, believing that varied perspectives foster innovation. To work in our Submarines business, candidates must hold a UK Security Check clearance; Rolls-Royce will support the application if needed. Applications are open to UK nationals or dual nationals approved by the MoD.
