Job overview
Are you seeking a clinical leadership role in developing Paediatric dentistry within the Oxfordshire Community Dental Service (OCDS)?
You will work closely with the Clinical Director, and will be responsible for the provision of advanced clinical care to children with learning difficulties, physical disabilities, mental health problems, medically compromised, severe anxiety or phobias and other disability or conditions that directly or indirectly affects their oral health.
You will provide advanced clinical care to children in line with the defined complexity levels 1, 2 and 3a as detailed in the Commissioning Standards for Dental Specialities – Paediatric Dentistry. This will include sedation and general anaesthesia, domiciliary care, provision of oral health care to those in local secure settings, screening and epidemiology and oral health promotion.
You will be responsible to the Clinical Director and will assist them as required in the day to day operational activities of the Community Dental Service. They will be expected to take the lead on the delivery of care to paediatric patients and will need to travel to sites as required. The post holder will be involved in the development, line management, training and supervision of dentists.

Knowledge
* Experience of staff management
* Hospital experience
* Teaching/examining experience
* Evidence of member of professional organisations relevant to paediatric dentistry
Qualifications

* Good communication and presentation skills
* Proven track record of managing staff and clinics
* Able to manage change effectively
* Clinical governance lead role
* Previous experience as trainer/tutor
* Evidence of multidisciplinary working in primary and secondary care
Experience
* General anaesthetic experience
* Can demonstrate competencies in paediatric dentistry to a very high standard
* Recent experience in treating children with complex medical problems
* Evidence of recent clinical experience for at least 5 years in area of paediatric dentistry
* Wide experience of CDS/HDS/GDS
* Experience in various methods of pain and anxiety management
* Experience as an educator, clinical and/or educational supervisor for trainees
* Experience in providing treatment to children using intra‑venous sedation
