Catering Assistant (Bank Shifts) Rate: £14.57 per hour (Direct PAYE: £13.00 basic £1.57 holiday pay) Location: Plaistow, East London Contract: Bank / Flexible Shifts (Potential for Permanent) Atkinson Baker Associates are currently recruiting flexible Catering Assistants on behalf of a leading National Facilities Management Provider. The Role Working on a flexible "bank" basis (picking up shifts to cover sickness, holidays, and busy periods), this role is based firmly in the kitchen, supporting the catering team with daily food production. This is an excellent opportunity to get your foot in the door with a major FM provider, with the genuine potential to secure a permanent contract down the line. Your daily duties will include: Food Preparation: Assisting the chefs and cooks with basic food prep (washing, peeling, and chopping ingredients). Kitchen Support: Ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly during busy service periods. Hygiene & Safety: Maintaining strict cleanliness standards across all food preparation areas, adhering to health and safety guidelines. Equipment Maintenance: Cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces to a high standard. Requirements Essential Vetting: Due to the secure nature of the site, an Enhanced DBS is required. It is highly preferable if you already hold one on the update service, but you must be willing to undergo the checks if you do not. Qualifications: You will need a Level 2 Food & Hygiene certificate. You must also complete a Food Allergen course (this can be provided free of charge by the client if you do not currently hold it). Experience: Previous back-of-house experience assisting with food prep in a commercial kitchen, school, or hospital environment is highly advantageous.
