Commercial Development Engineer – North Wales/North West England (with frequent travel to ENGIE locations including Wales)
About ENGIE
ENGIE is a global leader in low-carbon energy supply and services. We have been active in the UK energy market for over 20 years, focusing on energy storage and renewable energy (solar, wind, biogas), while supplying energy to organisations of all sizes. We are reshaping the energy future by reconciling economic performance with a positive impact on people and the planet. We are looking for individuals committed to helping turn our vision into reality.
About the Role:
The Commercial Development Engineer is responsible for ensuring that ENGIE’s generation assets in the UK are technically capable of delivering new commercial products to NESO (National Energy System Operator). The specification of these products is increasingly complex, and NESO requires detailed technical information and performance modelling for each unit that participates.
The Commercial Development Engineer will combine their knowledge of the Grid Code and the generating units to ensure that tenders submitted by ENGIE for these products are compliant and contracted successfully.
Initial focus of this role will be on ENGIE UK’s two Pumped Storage Hydro assets, Dinorwig & Ffestiniog, and frequent travel to these assets will be required. As ENGIE expands its Renewable and Flexible Generation asset base in the UK, the Engineer will also support these developments and may need to travel to other sites.
Key Responsibilities:
* Translate tender requirements and determine the required electrical system and turbine/generator data for compliance.
* Establish and validate models to demonstrate compliance with product delivery and Grid Code requirements.
* Provide expert advice on Electrical/Control Systems related to Turbine/Generator and Electrical systems.
* Plan, organise, and manage resources and contractors to deliver projects per contractual requirements.
* As Technical Officer and Responsible Officer, assess, select, negotiate, and manage contracts, providing technical leadership.
* Implement initiatives to improve quality management and ensure safe delivery of tenders.
* Analyse plant-level problems related to market product delivery and Grid Code compliance.
* Promote a positive team environment, sharing technical knowledge with colleagues.
* Develop and maintain procedures for daily contract management and delivery.
Why ENGIE UK?
* Opportunity to impact the future of energy supply.
* Collaborative and innovative environment.
* Bonus programme, healthcare cash plan, employer pension contributions.
* Commitment to professional development.
