Caregiver for 13-Year-Old with Complex Care Needs
We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated individuals who have a positive outlook to work within our team; the right candidates will be reliable, punctual, and flexible. They will be required to support our loving and happy 13-year-old client within her family home located in the Great Harwood area.
Our client has suffered an acquired brain injury, leading to cerebral palsy and as a result, she has complex care conditions. She requires support with all her activities of daily living. She enjoys activities such as swimming, days out with family and carers (particularly bowling), listening to audiobooks and music, watching movies and crafting.
Full‑time, part‑time and bank hours available, with shifts and hours depending on the client’s needs and candidates’ experience and skills. Typical shift patterns currently include:
* Weekend days, and weekday evenings for 4 hours after school; £14.50‑£15.50 per hour
* Waking nights, working 12‑hour shifts, 20:30 – 08:30; £15.00 ph weekday nights, £15.50 ph weekend nights
* Bank roles covering the above shifts as required

Key Responsibilities
* Administer a blended diet and fluids via her PEG tube
* Administer medications via her PEG tube
* Manage oral suctioning and record absences/episodes
* Maintain personal hygiene needs, including oral hygiene
* Ensure skin integrity by correct positioning when sitting in specialist seating and when in bed, and by applying barrier cream as required
* Implement any therapy strategies shown by the various therapists and evaluate the outcomes, including completion of daily stretches provided by the physiotherapist
* Use play, singing, audio stories, talking, sensory engagement as therapy strategies
* Undertake general cleaning and household duties related to the client’s needs, including laundry
* Work as part of a team and provide clear communication, including: understanding the client’s communication style and being responsive to her cues; updating parents and sharing achievements or concerns; recording clear daily records that conform to local policies; attending team meetings and supervision sessions; supporting new staff members; maintaining professional boundaries with the client, her family and the wider MDT
Person Specification
Qualifications: Ideal candidate will have either achieved a Care Certificate or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care – this is desirable, but without any of these qualifications you must complete the Care Certificate if engaged.
Experience: Minimum of two years working as a carer either as an employee or informally, ideally with individuals with complex care needs.

Special Requirements
Due to personal care requirements, a female carer is required for this role. Applicants must like pets as the family has three cats and a dog.
Working within a family home and getting to know one client well. Excellent training and development opportunities. Managed and supported by a Clinical Case Manager. Basic drinks provided when at work.
