Overview
Hertfordshire. You will provide specialist assessments within the A&E setting, follow ups and short term interventions for young people aged under 18 suffering from acute and complex emotional, behavioural, and psychological crisis. We are looking for an experienced Mental Health Nurse to join our service. Our clinicians provide crisis telephone line support, triage and assessment as well as face to face assessments, follow ups and brief interventions in the community. The C-CATT service operates 24/7, and the role will involve day, evening, night and weekend working.
Responsibilities
* Provide specialist assessments for young people under 18 in acute and complex emotional–behavioural–psychological crises within an A&E setting and in the community.
* Deliver crisis telephone line support, triage and assessment, and face-to-face assessments, followed by appropriate short-term interventions.
* Support referrals and work to reduce unnecessary A&E attendance by providing appropriate crisis care where possible.
* Work within a 24/7 service, covering day, evening, night and weekend shifts.
Qualifications and Requirements
* A car driver is an essential element to the role (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010 which prevents you from driving).
* Degree or Diploma in Mental Health Nursing
* Up-to-date professional registration
* Evidence of further professional development/training
* Membership to a professional body
* Experience of working in Mental Health and knowledge of mental health problems
* Experience of working in CAMHS
* Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
* Knowledge of Mental Health Act and Children’s Act
* Knowledge of Child Protection issues
Desirable criteria
* Experience of using evidence-based crisis interventions with young people
* Ability to keep up-to-date records and reports
* Ability to produce written and verbal reports for external agencies
* Ability to provide verbal feedback to the team
Essential criteria
* Ability to assess and monitor a client’s mental state
* Ability to assess risk and safety
