Overview
The Policy Officer will be responsible for mapping the requirements of the forting Employment Bill against existing policies, ensuringpliance with new legal obligations. The role will also involve reviewing, updating, and developing internal People policies to ensure they remain legallypliant, aligned with best practice, and relevant to strategic and operational needs.
13. Monitor and analyse the provisions of the Employment Bill and related secondary legislation, mapping them to existing policies and assessing implications by identifying gaps, overlaps, and areas requiring change.
14. Draft, revise, and update People policies to ensurepliance with statutory requirements, best practice inernance, and organisational objectives.
15. Work collaboratively with colleagues across People and Culture, Legal,ernance, and senior leadership teams to ensure consistency and clarity in policy development.
16. Engage with individuals with lived experience where relevant, incorporating their perspectives to enhance the relevance, accessibility, and impact of policies.
17. Provide clear advice, briefings, and rmendations to senior leadership on policy changes required.
18. Lead internal consultation and engagement processes, ensuring staff and stakeholders understand and adopt updated and new policies.
19. Maintain an audit trail of changes to policies and contribute to effective policyernance and record-keeping.
20. Undertake other duties within the scope of the role as may be reasonably required.
Skills and experience required
21. Experience in policy analysis, development, and implementation.
22. Strong understanding of UK employment law and organisational policy frameworks.
23. Proven ability to analyseplex legislation and translate it into clear, practical policies.
24. Experience of engaging with stakeholders to inform and enhance policy development.
25. Excellent written and verbalmunication skills, with the ability to prepare accurate and concise reports and policy documents.
26. Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and deliver to deadlines.
27. Ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively across teams at all levels.
Desirable
28. Previous experience working in a regulator or public body.
29. Knowledge ofernance and policy-making processes in a regulatory context.
30. Experience using lived experience insights to inform policy.
